A lifetime of experience and commitment
Linda Patterson started Mountain Rainwater Systems out of her love for the environment and her desire to care for it. Growing up on 12 acres of Pennsylvania farmland gave Linda plenty of opportunities to develop a profound relationship with the natural world. It also led to an active role in her high school’s recycling program and, subsequently, a college degree in Natural Resource Management.
After 30 years in the plant/green industry, including 14 years as the owner of an upscale garden center in the Boston suburbs, Linda began her latest earth-friendly venture—selling and installing rain barrels.
The birth of Mountain Rainwater Systems
“While talking with a friend at a local bakery,” says Linda, “I started to visualize a variety of rain barrels set up in my small West Asheville yard. We would benefit from the rainwater harvesting, and I would be able to show people what was possible when they saw the barrels in action. Due to the strong environmental ethic here in Asheville, I immediately discovered a remarkable interest in this product. I decided to offer sales and installation of rain barrels so that others could benefit and I could play an ever larger role in nurturing the environment. My goal is to offer rain barrels for as low a price as feasible and make installation fees manageable for average folks. My primary focus is to get as many people as possible collecting rainwater in the most affordable way they can.”
